About
I can only imagine how hard it is to decide which therapist is a good match for you. It’s often a shot in the dark. I’m hoping that this introduction to myself [who I am] will help you make a good decision.
Early in my life I realized I had a passion for people. I seemed to be able to see the potential in someone that they themselves could not see. Through undergrad and then graduate and post graduate work I met the benchmarks necessary to be this person, the person that was “qualified” to help others. Being with others in their time of need has been everything I thought it would be. There is nothing more rewarding than walking beside someone on their journey and seeing them flourish.
Thinking about the clients that I work with I want to be fair and honest. There are areas that are not in my comfort zone and I will tell you when you first contact me if I think your issue is something I can help with. There is one area where I have a great deal of expertise and that is in the area of infertility and adoption. I have had the privilege of working with this community for many years. This includes couples struggling with infertility, those assessing adoption readiness, those trying to navigate all the adoption options, birth parents, adoptive families, adoptees and those working on search and reunions. I can also help adoptive parents and birth parents mediate their relationship should they hit a snag or need a little guidance. If you are concerned about your adopted child and can’t figure out if they are struggling with an adoption issue or an age appropriate issue, I can help.
Adoption is not my only area of practice. I confidently work with individuals, couples, families and adolescents. I’ve been working with people for over 20 years and I would love the opportunity to work with you.
My goal in working with you is to join with you in whatever journey you are on. I will walk beside you and be a source of support, encouragement and a sounding board. I will ask you the questions you need to be asked so you can make good decisions. I will reflect back to you what I see and hear from you so you can see it clearly for yourself. I honestly believe that inside of you there is the ability to figure out and get through any situation. Sometimes we just need help, guidance and support to access and trust our own instincts.
