About
My passion for seeing you win in life is driven by me helping to empower you with effective tools to propel you forward. The therapy techniques that I have found to be most effective include mindfulness, strength-based, solution-focused therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy with a focus on restructuring your thoughts. How you think about yourself and the environment around you is vital to your ability to move forward.
Overall wellness not only includes our thought processes, but also our physical health and spiritual development. I do provide professional counseling from a Christian/Biblical perspective, although not all of my clients are practicing Christians. In session, I respect each client’s right to self determination in regards to his/her spiritual walk. In addition, as a former Division I collegiate athlete in track and field at the University of Virginia, I understand the importance of how maintaining good physical health and nutrition can have an impact on your mood, energy levels, ability to focus and clarity of thought. Even though I experienced challenges as an athlete, it has taught me valuable lessons about the power of my mind, building self-awareness and believing in myself.
After graduating from Argosy University with a Masters Degree in Community Counseling, I began my work as a therapist serving individuals, families and children who struggle with using their own strengths to create an environment for positive change to occur. Having access to quality education, social/family supports in place, and financial security to name a few are consistent barriers to the population I have served. Through this work, I discovered my passion for working with women, young adults and teen girls. I recognized that our lives are not only impacted by the challenging situations we face, but also how we think about and interpret them. For women and teenage girls, it is about knowing your worth, what you value in life and how you think about yourself. My goal is to empower a movement from within yourself to help you realize that you have what it takes to overcome any obstacles and live the life that you envision for yourself.
My clients not only inspire me to do the work that I do, but also my family. I am a happily married wife and mother to 4 wonderful and vibrant children. I am devoted to fostering an environment for them to build their faith, confidence and resiliency. I am also an avid reader and enjoy the time I spend serving the health and wellness ministry at my church.
