About
Roger L. Peterson received his doctorate in clinical psychology from Purdue University in 1971, after earning his undergraduate degree at Harvard University. He completed an internship at Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Peterson is a Licensed Psychologist in New Hampshire and is listed in the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology. Dr. Peterson was recognized in 1999 as a Diplomate in Clinical Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology (comparable to Board Certification in Medicine). In 2006 he received the New Hampshire Psychological Association’s Margaret D. Riggs Award for Distinguished Contribution to Psychology. In 2008, Dr. Peterson won the National Council of Schools and Programs of Professional Psychology (NCSPP) Distinguished Professional Psychologist Award for Exemplary Contributions to Professional Psychology Education.
Dr. Peterson is Professor and Distinguished Senior Scholar of Clinical Psychology at Antioch University New England in Keene, where he teaches cognitive psychology and professional geropsychology. Dr. Peterson is a past President of the National Council of Schools and Programs of Professional Psychology He served on the American Psychological Association Committee on Accreditation for 11 years. He has chaired two national conferences on education and training in psychology. Many of his publications and presentations are in this area, including the articulation of the national professional psychology education model. In 2013, Dr. Peterson completed his term as an Associate Editor of the journal Training and Education in Professional Psychology (TEPP). Dr. Peterson’s academic writing is on professional education and postmodern and social cognitive constructionism as it pertains to psychology. In 2010, a book Competency-Based Education for Professional Psychology appeared, co-edited with Dr. Mary Beth Kenkel from Florida Institute of Technology.
