About
Rebecca has over 18 years of experience working with children and families in counseling, educational, recreational, residential, hospital, and other settings. She has worked side by side with early elementary teachers, counselors, nurses, recreational therapists, university professors, community professionals, and others from across South Dakota. Rebecca has given presentations and hosted training at the national, regional, and local levels.
Rebecca has taken the opportunity for extensive training and consultation with experts in their field, as well as a diverse education. She specializes in Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT), Trauma Focused - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFB-CBT), and Problematic Sexualized Behavior - Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (PSB-CBT). She gained an MS in Counseling and Human Resource Development from SDSU at the University Center in Rapid City, SD. She has a BS in Psychology and a background in professional music and art which she utilizes in her counseling practice. Other specialized training included mind-body medicine, counseling the military child, historical trauma, post-partum depression, ethics in transgender health, trauma in persons with disabilities, and attachment therapy. Rebecca enjoys working with persons of all ages and abilities and their families.
Rebecca is engaging, and understanding of diverse cultural and family values. She considers the whole child, their strengths, and their interests. She is an empathic listener, who utilizes nature, sports, music and the arts as a method to help clients meet their goals. Rebecca was honored by the Western South Dakota Child Protection Council (2017) for strengthening families.
