About
I hold a Master of Science degree in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Central Arkansas and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Utah. I am an independently Licensed Professional Counselor and approved Supervisor for licensure candidates in the State of Alaska (LPC-S); I am an independently Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Hawaii as well as a licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the State of Utah. Under the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC), I am also a National Certified Counselor (NCC). Under the Alaska Commission for Behavioral Health Certification (ACBHC), I am a Chemical Dependency Counselor I (CDC I). Additionally, I am a Certified Clinical Tele-Mental Health Professional (CTMH).
I have served as a counseling and treatment provider for nearly 30 years in varying capacities. I first started working with adolescents and their families as a counselor and case manager in a residential co-occurring program in 1991 and have extensive experience working in mental health teams to assist youth and their families. Over the years, I have worked in inpatient and outpatient treatment settings as well as private, non-profit and community treatment settings. For nearly 5 years I lived and worked in a tribal behavioral health setting. This included servicing communities in frontier Alaska. These experiences provided me with opportunities to expand my abilities and to work with richly diverse populations spanning cultures, ages, experiences, and needs. I have provided direct service to children, youth, individuals, families, couples, individuals experiencing crisis, individuals experiencing addiction, families experiencing addiction, individuals and families processing trauma, and first responders. I have always made it my priority to provide excellent treatment planning and client advocacy.
I am trained in EMDR, Grief counseling, Trauma counseling, and Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM).
