About

I earned my undergraduate degree at Bates College in Maine in 1997. My social services career began while working at a group home for adolescents involved in the criminal justice system in Portland, Oregon. After this experience, my work with adults who were managing chronic mental health challenges in Jackson, Wyoming, led me to return to school to earn my Masters in Social Work at the University of Wyoming in 2007.

Since graduating, I have lived all over the country, working in various community mental health and educational settings. In Worcester, Massachusetts, I was privileged to form trusting relationships as a therapist for adolescents in an alternative public school due to their involvement in the legal system. While living in Seattle, I supported families to navigate complex relationships and experiences of loss and poverty. Locally, I have worked in Missoula and Bozeman schools, addressing adolescent trauma. In addition to raising my own children, the variety of my professional experiences has enriched my clinical skills, informed my approach, and enhanced my understanding of diverse perspectives. I have held behavioral health board approved clinical social work licenses in Wyoming, Massachusetts, Washington, Idaho and Montana.

I maintain my professional mental health clinician license and stay current on evidence based therapy practices through training. These have included Perinatal Interpersonal Therapy for Depression & Anxiety (by The IPT Institute), Cognitive Processing Therapy (by UW Medicine/Harborview Center for Sexual Assault and Traumatic Stress in Seattle, WA) and the Maternal Mental Health Intensive training (by Seleni Institute in New York, NY). In addition, I use and have trained in Trauma Focused- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Attachment, Regulation, and Competency (ARC) frameworks to inform my practice. I am certified through Postpartum Support International as a Perinatal Mental Health Certified (PMH-C) therapist, a rostered Provider of CPT, and a current member of the National Association of Social Workers.

Most importantly, I assume a relational and strengths-based approach while working with clients. There needs to be trust and genuine connection in order to effectively address personal and some times painful topics. I am transparent in my approach and work as a team with clients. I value my clients' unique perspectives and expertise on their own lives. Together, we can develop a plan that will most effectively support you to reach your personal goals for emotional well being.
