Are you looking for someone who has personal experiences that can help them relate to you and understand your experience, but the professional expertise to guide you through the different pathways of life? Are you looking to engage in therapy without having to leave your home or job to attend an appointment? If you answered yes to most of those questions, it looks like you've come to the right place!!
I have always had a passion for helping other people and knew from a young age that I wanted to be a therapist. I received my undergraduate degree in psychology and sociology from Eastern Connecticut State University and my Master's degree from the University of Nebraska. I received my certification as a Medical Family Therapist after feeling compelled to work with families and individuals undergoing complex or difficult medical illnesses, surgeries or experiences. Additionally, I became certified as a perinatal mental health expert in 2018, after experiencing severe post partum anxiety following the birth of my first child.
I have over 10 years experience in the field and have been working with clients facing difficult life transitions, anxiety, depression, post partum/perinatal mental health disorders, family and life stresses.
I am a wife, a mother, a daughter, a fun loving aunt and a friend. have always been drawn towards helping others and this field has felt like a natural fit for me. Events that have taken place in my life have shaped me into the person and therapist that I am today. I became a certified perinatal mental health specialist in 2018, following post partum PTSD from the birth of my medically fragile son and also experienced a high risk pregnancy for my daughter resulting in premature birth, both of which resulted in lengthy NICU stays. It became my mission (even more-so than before) that no one should have to encounter that experience alone and that no mother should feel dismissed, judged or minimized for any of the difficulties that she has experienced on her journey towards motherhood.
I strive to create an open and non-judgmental environment for clients to feel supported and to begin working towards their goals. I work very hard to ensure that my clients feel comfortable and feel connected to me, as I believe that this is the cornerstone to a beneficial therapist-client relationship. I not only bring knowledge and experience into every session that I conduct, but I bring my own personality, sense of humor, empathy and an overall willingness to help others to overcome the difficultly that they are currently facing. Together, we can help you to overcome any obstacle.
