About
I help people to see themselves more wholly, heal, and make transformative change.
I have always been captivated by the delicate dance of human interrelatedness. The impact that our relationships have on the tracks of our lives both internally & externally is immense, complex, & lifelong.
From birth we require relationships to provide us with the support, security, tools, humility, & ultimately the confidence to live our best lives. Yet our relationships can largely not be understood to us…what’s worked, what hasn’t, & why, and our own steps and missteps in the dances. It’s hard not to be at least partially blinded by our egos, internalized schemas, & defenses.
I view therapy as a healing relationship and a secure environment where you can continue the process of self embodiment. Healthy relationships of all types start with us knowing, befriending, & working with our flawed selves as individuals.
I take a directive, active approach with clients. Goals, or “how we know if therapy is working”, are defined; and a holistic approach is taken that includes things to think about, actions to take, and resources to utilize outside of our time together in therapy.
Most of us do not come from a history of all secure, supportive, loving relationships - including the very important ones - such as our parents, family, & close friends. This does not mean that we’re destined to lives of “lacking”, unhealthy or unfulfilling relationships, & to repeat the same maladaptive patterns over and over again.
The coolest thing is…we can change the past now. We all have the ability to be who we needed “back then” & did not get. We can change how our past affects us today, in the now. We can see & take ownership of the parts of us that we had obstructed views of before. We can work in congruence with our full selves to consciously build our futures.
