About
I have always had a fascination with human behavior and a passion for helping others. While attending University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, I studied Speech Communications with an emphasis on Interpersonal Communications. Upon graduation, I began working as an inner-city school teacher and found I was most interested in the social emotional needs of my students.
I therefore decided to pursue a Master’s Degree in Marriage Family Therapy at California State University, Dominguez Hills. Since obtaining my degree and my license fifteen years ago, I have worked in a variety of settings including residential, school, and for the past seven years, private practice.
Not only do I utilize my education and training to help me as a therapist, I also draw upon my own life experiences. I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to live and work in Europe, Asia, and Mexico. Not only has this widened my world view and perspective, but it also helps in my work with clients from various cultural backgrounds.
Even more influential on me, is my experience as a mother of three. My knowledge and expertise in maternal health, fertility, parenting, couples and family work, grief, life transitions, and stress management arose from my own personal challenges and discoveries. I continually strive to learn and grow both as an individual and as a therapist, and I bring this expectation and encouragement into my sessions with you, my client, as we work towards discovering what your metamorphosis will be.
