About

Tyler Sharpe, TLMLP, LPC is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Provisionally Licensed Master Psychologist. He received his undergraduate degree in Behavioral Neuroscience from the University of Kansas, and his graduate degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Saint Mary. Tyler completed his graduate-level clinical internship at a Community Mental Health Center, where he received intensive training in administering psychological evaluations on adolescents and adults, as well as, individual and group psychotherapy.

Tyler's background in the field of behavioral health is diverse, having worked in a variety of healthcare settings. He began his career as a Behavioral Health Technician; working with adolescents who had been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. He then worked as a Research Associate at the University of Kansas – Center for Gerontology where he studied motor and cognitive functioning in older adults with dementia, as well as, the associations between Alzheimer’s Disease and Periodontal Disease. Additionally, Tyler completed a year-long internship in the University of Kansas - Cognitive Neuropsychology Laboratory, where he received training on administering and interpreting neuropsychological tests and neuroimaging methods. While in graduate school, Tyler worked with at-risk children and their families through KVC Health Systems, as well as, with adults who suffered from severe and persistent mental illness at ReDiscover Mental Health. Following completion of graduate school, Tyler practiced at Shawnee Mission Medical Center and The University of Kansas Hospital, where he treated children and adults in acute psychiatric crisis. Currently, in addition to private practice, Tyler manages a Community Psychiatric Rehabilitation (CPR) Program of a local mental health agency. Tyler opened his private practice in 2018, where he sees adolescents and adults for psychotherapy and psychological evaluations.

Tyler is also a member of the LGBT Therapist Guild of Kansas City.
