About
I have been in private practice since February of 2001 and from the start of my career, my focus has been on presence based psychotherapy and the use of heart centered mindfulness as a bridge between Western and Eastern Psychology. In my work with clients, I am most interested in helping people develop a compassionate relationship with their own experiencing that can lead them on a journey of self-discovery and acceptance, alleviation of suffering, and healing of relational disconnects.
In my practice I work primarily with individual adults and couples, but I also see adolescents who are wanting to engage in counseling. My scope of treatment includes issues related to traumatic experience, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, anger and stress management difficulties, suicidal ideation, grief and loss, addictions, eating disorders, communication problems, and relationship difficulties. I have been a licensing Supervisor since 2006 and have led workshops and training groups on Self-Relations psychotherapy, Body Centered Therapy, Generative Trance States, Eastern Psychology, and the therapeutic use of heart centered mindfulness. Along with colleagues in the Austin area, I worked on developing Core Relational Therapy, an approach that helps clients in accessing and utilizing internal resources to better deal with core emotional issues and destructive patterns. My goal with clients is to help them find greater compassion and flexibility in how they experience themselves and to help them become more loving, open, and authentic in their relationships with others.
