About

Susan Atwell Hall LMHC, DCC is the founder of Discovering Wellness. Educated at Lesley University, Ms. Hall is a licensed master’s level mental health counselor who has been practicing for more than 20 years. Much of her professional career has involved integrating quality of care initiatives in both public and private healthcare settings.

Implemented an inclusive model of engagement for multi-stressed families involved with the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health, which included:

conjoint home-based family, individual, sibling, and couples therapy

heading a family respite program for all family members

Initiated resident psychotherapy in a family shelter for domestic violence survivors in Framingham, Massachusetts

Coordinated treatment, investigation, and court processes of child sexual abuse

Initiated community outreach programs within South Middlesex Opportunity Council, Inc. (SMOC), in a large culturally diverse community services agency

Contributed to numerous public sector healthcare quality and utilization initiatives

Directed the start up a partial hospital program in Worcester, Massachusetts, a culturally diverse city

Lectured and taught in community, professional, and graduate school environments

Received a development grant for a multi-faceted deinstitutionalization program that led to the development of the Discovering Wellness model

Implemented a State Innovation Model (SIM) grant through the Vermont Health Care Innovation Project (VHCIP) to provide wellness/mental health care in a rural Vermont community clinic

Served on Massachusetts Department of Mental Health Board, providing oversight for therapeutic residences

Currently serves on Blue Cross Blue Shield and the Brattleboro Retreat’s Clinical Community Advisory Group (CCAG), addressing healthcare payment and quality reform

Currently serves on the board for Montpelier Vermont’s Another Way Community Center, supporting the peer recovery movement

Currently serves on Vermont Mental Health Counselors Association board, providing legislative advocacy

Currently serves on the Vermont Department of Mental Health’s Community Advisory Council
