My goal in the therapeutic relationship is to determine what goals you would like to meet and accompany you on your journey of meeting them. I will encourage you to take some chances and believe in yourself. I will encourage you to practice the use of interventions to assist you in increasing your coping skills, modulating your emotions and help you challenge some of your unhelpful cognitions that we all struggle with at times.

My name is Stephanie Soulies (Sue-lay), I have been married for over 20 years, I have 2 children, and a grandchild. My family and I settled in beautiful North Carolina after my husband retired after 20 years of service in the United States Air Force. I too, am an United States Air Force Veteran.
My history in the military and as a military spouse provided me with a rich experience immersed in a multicultural world blended together of people from diverse backgrounds from all over the world. I have learned that our differences is what makes each of us unique and truly special.
As a therapist I have learned that the most valuable part of therapy is the relationship.
From a little girl, I learned from my sweet, precious (spit-fire) Southern grandmother to be kind, loving, caring, generous, and to meet people where they are in life. She also taught me to stand up for others who could not stand for themselves, set good boundaries and have integrity in all things. Unfortunately I did not get her amazing culinary talents.
As a mother, I learned that I do not have all the answers. I also learned that I do not need to know all the answers as having a relationship and providing comfort in a time of need is powerful tool.
I also learned the power of humor as it allows me to realize that taking things too seriously sometimes can result in undue stress. I have definitely learned how to laugh at myself.
As a wife, I have learned compromise and meeting each other where they are and allowing myself to view a situation in a different light than my own. I have also learned that life has a balance and we need to take time for ensuring that we care for those people in our life that are the most important to us as we are never promised tomorrow.
I have learned from failure in life, but failure is an amazing teacher and trying and failing is worth the effort as it leads to growth and change which shapes our inner being.
I have also learned from pain in life. We do not get through this life without some form of pain. Through pain, I have learned strength, perseverance, dedication, forgiveness and gratitude.
