About

I have been working in the mental health field for over 20 years now. My earlier experiences include work as a preschool teacher and curriculum designer, an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapist, and a Foster Care Visitation Worker. I began working as an outpatient counselor and Intake coordinator with adults with severe and persistent mental illnesses (Schizophrenia, Personality Disorders, Bipolar, as well as Anxiety and Depression). My counseling experience transitioned back to children and families working outpatient as a Children's Clinician and Intake Coordinator.

I started teaching at the College level in 2009 and have taught at over 10 colleges and universities. I teach Psychology and Counseling courses in-person and online. I began working in a private practice and see young children, adolescents and adults as well as families. I have a strong interest in group work as well as lectures/courses.

I have undergraduate degrees in Early Childhood Development and Psychology (with a minor in History). I earned a Masters in Mental Health Counseling as well as a Certificate in Graduate Studies (CAGS) post-masters in Mental Health Counselling. I am a licensed mental health counselor in the state of Rhode Island. I am currently enrolled in a Clinical Psychology Doctoral program where at graduation, I will be a Clinical Psychologist.

I had a desire to open Kalm as a place of peace and tranquility; where one can find themselves and be able to reach their true potential. My hope for Kalm is to expand our Wellness services over time to incorporate alternative healing and hope for the future. We all have the potential for change and growth and my hope is that I can help be a partner and a guide towards this process. I base most of my philosophy from Adlerian and Positive Psychology concepts. As a lifelong learner, I am always looking for new ways to incorporate evidence-based practices into our sessions. Please give me a call and see if we would be a good fit!
