About

​Kristen is a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) and a National Board Certified Counselor (NCC), practicing under clinical supervision in the DC metro area since 2017. Through her practice, Kristen offers a compassion-focused, client-centered, interpersonal, cognitive-behavioral, and solutions-focused approach. Kristen is passionate about working with clients to help them cultivate hope in the midst of difficult seasons of life, and to feel empowered in their journey of healing. During sessions, she works to build trust in order to create a safe space for each individual’s unique story and goals, and to cultivate understanding with her clients as a foundation for a strong counseling relationship.

Acknowledging that each person’s journey is unique, Kristen offers many integrative wellness practices to her clients, including mind-body practices, spiritual meditation, fitness and nutrition. Kristen is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) through Yoga Alliance's 200-hr Teacher Training Program, is a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) through the National Council on Strength and Fitness, and holds a Certificate in Nutrition from the University of Pittsburgh. Kristen emphasizes the principles of holistic wellness, as she empowers her clients to move toward mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical healing.

Kristen is a graduate of Messiah College with a Master of Art’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Kristen also holds the National Certified Counselor (NCC) designation through the National Board of Certified Counselors.

In addition to serving clients through The Heights Counseling and Wellness, Kristen serves as the Program Director for the Center for Women, Faith & Leadership (CWFL) at the Institute for Global Engagement (IGE) in Washington, D.C., and serves as a psychotherapist under supervision at The Women’s Center in Washington, D.C., and a TeleHealth therapist through the Grace Wellness Center in Pittsburgh, PA. Through her work, Kristen has cultivated a passion for working with individuals from many different backgrounds and cultures; and she regularly aids individuals struggling in difficult contexts around the world. To further support this work, Kristen holds an M.A. in World History from Eastern Illinois University, a B.A. in Theology and a B.A. in History with a focus on Near East Languages from The University of Northwestern - St. Paul, and a certificate in Religion and Conflict Resolution from Nyack College.
