About

In the first few session we will begin by getting to know each other and exploring what brings you to therapy at this particular time. I will ask many questions so I can understand your history as well as the history of current difficulties and get to the root causes of what is causing your pain and where you may be stuck. Therapy will proceed at the pace with which you are comfortable. Therapy is a collaboration which evolves at your individual pace, in an atmosphere of safety, trust, connection and collaboration.

Much of our work together is going to involve an examination of important past and present relationships and their effect on your character formation, world view, coping mechanisms and self-esteem. My experience has taught me that deepest causes of pain are related to or caused by trauma, separations, abandonment, instabilities and attachment issues throughout life.

My approach to counseling is solution focused, always having in mind symptoms or problems as well as goals you want to achieve and solutions you want to find which is what brings you to counseling at this time.

Common reasons for seeking therapy: grief, sadness, depression, anxiety, fear, panic, stress, trauma, going through a difficult situation, nightmares or flashbacks, communication issues, anger management, or relationship issues.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy: A psychotherapeutic approach that aims to solve problems concerning dysfunctional emotions, behaviors and cognitions through a goal-oriented, systematic procedure.

Reality Therapy: A psychotherapeutic approach that focuses on what is really wanted in life and how current behaviors and supporting these wants, desires, and needs.

Persons-Centered Therapy: A psychotherapeutic approach that provides clients with an opportunity to develop a sense of self. Clients can realize how their attitudes, feelings and behavior are being negatively affected and make an effort to find their true positive potential.

I believe that effective therapy brings about growth and change and it occurs in the atmosphere of safety, trust, connection and collaboration. Your safety is my first priority, our sessions are completely confidential and you will be able to really trust me with your deepest self.

Typically, counseling and therapy sessions are 50 to 55 minutes long. I do accept insurance, however clients will need to know their deductibles and copayments. I accept cash and checks when paying deductibles, copayments, or when paying for sessions.
