About

Hey friends,

Jan here. Where do I even begin? I always wanted to help people. I knew that from a young age. I thrived when I got to do little somethings for people, even random strangers. Naturally, I was drawn to the field of psychology.

Even though psychology was and still is my first love, I didn’t think I could make a living as a psychologist, so I double majored in psychology and business. I also knew I needed at least a master’s degree to work one on one with clients, but I was SO tired of studying and classes that I let my love of travel get the best of me. At the ripe old age of 22 with my newly minted bachelor’s degree I set out to see the world. Only problem was that I was broke, with student loan debt up the wazoo! So, what does any broke travel luster do? Become a flight attendant! Of course!!! Let the airline pay for my travel adventures! The plan was to take one year off. Then, get back to school.

Fast forward 17 years. You read that right! ONE year turned into SEVENTEEN! Hey...the world’s a big place!!!

Now, a couple of things happened along the way. Like triplets. Yep, three babies for the price of one! One pregnancy. One delivery. One heckuva wild ride and in between the feedings, and crying, and diaper changes, and crying, and giggles, and crying. Well you get the picture. Somehow my two girls and a boy turned 5 and on their first day of kindergarten I started my master’s degree. I dropped them off crying in their classroom and I cried all the way to the university. So while they were learning their A, B, C’s I was learning the foundations of the therapeutic process. I especially loved being the only triplet mom ever in the history of my university to be in the honor society, where I had to peel them off my lap to give a speech. All three of them. Thankfully I have a big lap.

And, here we are now. They turn 20 next week. My hubby and I successfully got them to adulthood, mostly unscathed. Whew! It’s been a trip! Speaking of trips….I forgot to mention that my hubby is an international airline pilot who, when he goes to work, is gone for days to weeks at a time. And, you know all the broken bones, concussions, flooded basements, pneumonia and ER visits happened when he was on the other side of the globe. That’s how it works here. We call it Murphy’s law. Thankfully, despite Murphy seeming to totally live at our house, I was able to attend to all our ups and downs with the help of an amazing support system of friends.

Now I would like to pass along my lifetime of knowledge both from an academic and street cred standpoint. You don’t get through raising three humans simultaneously without a little street cred! I’m happy you found me! Buckle up because as long as you’re here, you might as well have fun on this ride called life!
