About
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over 20 years of clinical experience. I have a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Indiana State University, and I have been in Private Practice since January 2006. I offer Individual, Couples, Family and Group Psychotherapy, and I am able to effectively address a wide range of issues and concerns. I am a practical, interactive, solution-focused therapist. My treatment approach is to provide support and practical feedback to help clients resolve current problems and long-standing patterns. I incorporate a blend of conventional and alternative approaches, drawing on a variety of styles and techniques to find what will be most helpful for each client. With sensitivity and compassion, and without judgement, I work with each client to help them build on their strengths to identify and achieve their life goals.
I will share with you more about me during our first session, but so that you can make an informed decision, there are three things you should know before contacting me. First, you will never have to wonder what I am thinking... I am very open and direct (many would say blunt and to the point) and being solution focused I tend to get right to the heart of things. Second, I believe that counseling has to be at least a little fun whenever possible, so light hearted sarcasm and humor are a big part of my sessions when appropriate. Finally, I don't have all the answers and I am not perfect, but I do care about my clients and want to help. If I can't answer a question you have, I promise that I will find the answer (if it is out there), or that we will find it together.
One more thing I would like you to know: I don't have office staff, it is just me... and I am a much better therapist than I am a receptionist! What this means for you is that I often get behind on returning calls and contact emails. When that happens (and it happens way more than I like) I sometimes accidently delete or lose messages. If you contact me and I don't respond within a day or two, please contact me again! Oh, and thank you in advance for being understanding!
Whether or not you decide to contact me, I hope things go well for you. Take care!
