About
Hello there. I am a native of Fairmont, West Virginia. I am a clinical social worker and I started this private practice in July, 2016 after nearly 10 years of what will always be some of my most memorable and humbling work at WVU Children’s Hospital as the family therapist. My work at Children’s grew me clinically in ways which have directly impacted my work and focus areas, now, at Intentional Wellness and Consulting, LLC. Life’s challenges and issues which I am most passionate about and most effective as a therapist are, but not limited to, the following special populations: individuals (ages 12 - 85), couples and families, the Deaf and hard-of hearing communities, families of children with chronic illnesses, or families who are also caregivers for other family members, those in bereavement - including early fetal losses/miscarriages, families who foster children or believe they want to, those with traumatic histories and those struggling with the disease of addiction and their family members.
I am an invited public speaker in areas such as social & healthcare policy; pediatric palliative care and the effects of chronic illness upon individuals, couples and families; post traumatic stress disorder (acute and chronic); lectures on the importance of developing trauma-informed systems of care and assessments; vicarious trauma and healthcare professional burnout or caregiver fatigue; addiction - what it is/and isn’t and what Medication Assisted Treatment for opioid addiction is/and isn’t. As a consultant, my aim is to support capacity building efforts by working with other individuals and organizations around the state to build stronger organizations and communities. I enjoy doing in-service education and consultation on topics such as, but not limited to, collective wisdom-based leadership, organization morale, strategic planning and more. I also am a trained facilitator in large and small group work, meetings and conversations.
Outside of my practice, I most enjoy time with my husband, family and friends. Things I do to feel well and be my best are: spending time outside, vegetable and flower gardening, road trips, picnicking, massage, meditation, a mani/pedi when I can and just simple quite time in the mornings with coffee and a walk around my property. I also enjoy cooking and finding an excuse to host gatherings in our home. I enjoy traveling with my husband, whether a weekend road trip to Helvetia, WV or a 4,000 mile journey through Newfoundland and Labrador.
I love what I do at Intentional Wellness and Consulting, LLC. I am passionate about supporting people’s goals to live and feel better. I would be honored by the opportunity to work with you as you explore what Intentional Wellness looks like for you.
