About
Hi there! I am Alice (XiaoRan) Zhao, a multinational counselor. I understand how stressful it can be to adapt to a new environment or new life phases. Are you going through a specific change in life? I have experience working with adults struggling with cultural biases and acculturation.
If you are an immigrant, international student, and/or international worker, you may have fear or stress. This can be associated with adjusting to a new environment and can trigger loneliness or disconnection. I am here to support you and to help you work through these challenges so you don't have to do it alone. I use cultural theories to help you better understand your own culture and the one you are adapting to. In my work, I strive to help clients better understand themselves, accept who they are, and adapt to the world.
In my office, you will have a warm and safe space for you to be who you are. Using CBT, we will explore irrational beliefs, feelings, and behaviors. We will work together to address underlying factors that may contribute to your depression, anxiety, or substance use. We will use solution-focused techniques to resolve obstacles in your life. We will create goals to help you navigate transitions and make positive changes in life.
If traditional talk therapy isn’t what you’re looking for, you can contact me for Brainspotting. Brainspotting, a powerful treatment modality, can be done in person and online. I use Brainspotting to help people work through depression, anxiety, trauma, difficult emotions, and difficult life circumstances. With Brainspotting, you don’t have to do a lot of talking, which some people really like.
