About
Dr. Alice Sanderlin is a TN licensed therapist (LPC/MHSP) who works with individuals, couples, and families, and maintains a private practice in Nashville, Tennessee.
Having spent the last twenty years working with individuals and families both as an counselor, trainer, and instructor, I am a helper at heart who believes in empowering others who want to make changes in their lives.
I have specialized training in Emotionally Focused Therapy, an evidence-based approach to help couples and families improve communication and manage relationship conflicts to form stronger connections. I am also certified in PREPARE/ENRICH offering relationship and premarital counseling from a faith-based or non faith-based perspective. I am trained in EMDR processing for trauma and addiction recovery. Client issues that I treat include relationship rupture, grief, anxiety, depression and codependency. I have a background in community mental health and addiction treatment of the family system.
I have a Master's Degree in Human Development Counseling, a training that enables me to view others with a growth mindset. Aware that life is full of obstacles including complex family issues and transitions, I helps others identify blocks and establish boundaries going forward. I obtained a PhD in clinical counseling, education and supervision and supervise new therapists.
I have a person-centered style which is nonjudgmental, supportive and relational. Since each person or couple is unique, my interventions are tailored to your goals and building your skill set. While my faith is Christian, I welcome individuals of all backgrounds.
In addition to being a therapist, I am an adjunct professor in psychology and a trained Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 31 mediator, I volunteer at the Nashville Conflict Resolution Center as a third party neutral in disputes and partner with various nonprofit organizations. I enjoy speaking and writing on mental health issues including such topics as healthy relationship boundaries, mindfulness, and addiction recovery.
